What is Rhythmic Gymnastics?
Rhythmic Gymnastics is a unique
blend of the dance, art and sport. It
combines elements of ballet, modern
dance, basic acrobatic skills and
manipulation of five hand apparatus
(rope, hoop, clubs, ball and ribbon).
The essence of Rhythmic Gymnastics
is its ability to allow you to express
yourself through elegant and
graceful movements. This elegance
and grace shines from the Rhythmic
Gymnast in many ways. Their
precision, choreography, flexibility
and presentation awe the viewer like
few other sports.
The benefits of the Rhythmic
Gymnastics on female development
are endless. Girls enrolled in a
Rhythmic Gymnastics program will
demonstrate progress in a number
of key developmental areas. Some
of these areas include flexibility,
grace, balance, strength, agility and
hand-eye coordination.
At RGI, we teach a variety of Rhythmic classes at various age and skill levels to best match the needs of your child.
Rhythmic is great supplemental training for baton twirling and artistic gymnastics.
Pre-Rhythmic
This is an introduction to Rhythmic Gymnastics for the 4 to 5 year old child. The child will learn a variety of jumps, basic gymnastic skills, ballet, and dance. The class will incorporate basic locomotor movements involving different skills and stretches appropriate to the age of the child as well as an introduction to the rhythmic equipment: ball, hoop, clubs, rope, and ribbon.
Beginner Rhythmic
This series of classes consist of instruction in basic skills in ballet, dance, and rhythmic equipment. This is an introductory level, familiarizing students with the basic body elements and equipment used in rhythmic gymnastic.
Intermediate Rhythmic
This series of classes further develop the skills that are important to rhythmic gymnastics including more advanced flexibility, conditioning, ballet and equipment handling. More emphasis will be put on learning combinations and putting skills together with music into short routines.
Advanced Rhythmic
This is the most advanced class offered at the developmental level. It is designed for advanced instruction in rhythmic skills stressing the accumulation of higher level tricks.
Competitive and Performing Team
At this level gymnasts must show physical ability in performing skills and routines, must be mentally prepared, and posses a positive attitude and work ethic. Team training time will be divided between intense workouts in flexibility, strength, endurance and the mastering of skills with each apparatus.
